Braai Time!

All the Head of Departments from the hotel got together at the GM's house in Edenglen on Saturday 24 Feb for a braai. We played twister with the kids, there was food for Africa and the Blue Bulls won the game (only just). Another successful event to keep the spirits high when the hotel is having its best and busiest year since opening in 1998. Well deserved and well received. Marchel and Valerie - Thanks for the true South African hospitality you and you family showed us!

Brain Battle

On Tuesday 20 Feb e few of us, who seem to think we are smart, went to Dacqs in Menlyn for a quiz night. It was loads of fun, and we all soon realised that as a TEAM you know a lot more than by yourself - so all and all a good lesson to apply in the workplace! Mission: TEAM Building, thus MISSION: Accomplished!

Another one Bites the Dust

On Friday 16 Feb, my very dear friend Frieda had her fairytale wedding with Johan. Frieda was the vision of an angel, and Johan - the very proud groom. Mr. & Mrs. Serfontein is currently enjoying their honeymoon in Mauritius, and on behalf of all the friends, I would like to wish them a lifetime of happiness, peace and joy, and that they will always be grateful for this opportunity to share LIFE with each other. "VAT SO!!"

Rugby at Loftus!

On Saturday 10 Feb, Dad and I went to watch the Super 14 match : Blue Bulls vs. Cheetahs. The atmosphere at Loftus was electric, as these two teams are arch rivals. This was also Dad's last visit to Loftus before setting of to greener pastures in the UK, so I think he thoroughly enjoyed it! All's well that ends well, because the Blue Bulls secured a narrow victory with a final score of 24-20. And needless to say: Dad's BLOOD IS BLUE! (Click here for the photos)

Birthday Get-Together

On the evening of my birthday, I had a small get-together with close friends, at an upmarket Bar/Lounge, here in my home town, Centurion. Everybody arrived around 7pm, and we had a relaxing night, with good food and good company. Thanks to all of you who made it (especially on a school night) and for the lovely gifts. I really do appreciate it and promise you that each person present shares a special place in my heart! (Click on this link to view the photos.)

SURPRISE!

My birthday was on Wednesday 7 Feb. I had a meeting in Sandton, followed by lunch with some colleagues. When I got back to the office, a lovely surprise awaited me! My big brother, Leon, and his wife, Elizma, had sent me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers to brighten my day. Needless to say it did result in a few tears! I can't thank them enough for this unexpected gift!

My Pride and Joy

As this is my first entry on my blog, I thought to show everyone my PRIDE and JOY. He is a little black and brown devil of a Daschund, but I love him to bits, and he (sometimes) responds to the name of Murphy. Dad came up with the name, as his predecessor was called Eddie. Eddie, bless his soul, had a rather unfortunate and fatal run-in with a car, and died at the age of 4 months. Murphy is like a child to me, and even though I have lost many a possession to his eagerness to chew, he lives deep in my heart. Who can't love this face, eh?
